Philmont

Cimarron, New Mexico

In 1936, Waite Phillips donated a 35,000 acre ranch near Cimarron, New Mexico, to become the Rocky Mountain Scout Camp.  Five years later the facility was expanded became known as the Philmont Scout Ranch.  In 1963 it expanded further when an anonymous donor contributed over 10,000 acres known as the Baldy Area.  The Ernest Thompson Seton Memorial Museum and Library opened in 1966.
