Late in December 1999, I received a copy of the The Checklist of Scout, Guide & Brigade Stamps of the World by J. David F. McKee.  This is the 20th edition.

For me, this was an enjoyable excursion into this catalogue.  I found many of the tidbits of included data to be quite interesting and informative.  If a person uses only Scott Catalogue numbers for reference, he/she could be disappointed as David tracks items only through Stanley Gibbon and his own references number.

As a general checklist, it is quite well done and has lots of information that is not available in many other resources.  Some of the categories included are:

• Scout & Guide Postage Stamps
• Scout & Guide Local Carriage Labels
• Scout & Guide Displaced Persons Camp Labels
• Scout & Guide Christmas Charity Labels
• Scout & Guide Currency
• Scout Rocket Mail
• Boys & Girls Brigade Postage Stamps
• Boys & Girls Brigade Christmas Charity Labels

However, I do not have the opportunity to see every issue or variety that is reported and sometimes inaccurate reports may lead to an erroneous entry in the Checklist.  My policy is always to list any issue I hear or read about.  If there is doubt about the authenticity of the issue, I will usually note that fact and will drop the issue from the next Edition if no confirmation of the issue is reported.  I am very willing to receive corrections from readers.
