The United States Postal Service has often marked the first day of issue of a commemorative stamp with a special ceremony. The ceremony included distinguished speakers related to the topic, politicians, the stamp designer, celebrities, and of course postal officials. Boy and Girl Scouts have also participated in these ceremonies, providing the Color Guard and members of the audience. In concert with most of these ceremonies, a stamp ceremony program was usually printed with the listing of an agenda of one or more speakers or events for the ceremony honoring the stamp being issued. Here is a reference of First Day Ceremony Events with accounts by participants.
